"We enjoyed meeting you at the audition and we were very impressed by your talent and the potential we saw ... We are confident that you would gain a great deal from the EXCEL course and for that reason we would like to offer you a place in the 2014 intake as a Drama major and Dance minor."
THANK YOU JESUS!
I officially begin on the 10th of March. Wow! Honestly I could hardly believe my eyes when I read that letter. If you want to know a bit more of my journey toward where I am now with this you can read my previous blog titled 'Prayers Appreciated'.
The thing with all this is... EXCEL is in Auckland. Next year I'm moving away from Upper Hutt, Wellington. Away from the house, the church, the city that have always been my home. Don't get me wrong I am SO excited for the journey to come and feel beyond blessed to have been accepted into the course. But the thought of moving is not an easy one.
One of the things I'll miss MOST is youth leading. For the past 3 years or so I've been a leader within Upper Hutt Baptist Church youth community. It's grown me so much as a person and it's given me a real love for serving people and hanging out with kids. I want to see the youth of God's Kingdom get EXCITED. I want to see them feel alive in Christ. To live life to it's fullest. To be filled with His Spirit and be open and receptive to God's leading and obeying His ways. It's going to break my heart to walk away from the friendships that I've built with the kids I lead. My prayer is that they will continue to grow in God's love for them. That the time and effort and love I've poured into caring for, leading, and building relationships with them won't go to waste. Because the reason for all that was simply to point them toward Jesus.
Sometimes I get so overwhelmed with the realisation of moving and I can do nothing but say "God it's too hard." Life has thrown some real surprises at me this year and I've struggled a lot. But if there's a truth that I need to work on trusting in and believing even deeper it would be this:
'Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test he will give you the strength to endure it...' ~1 Corinthians 10:13
This is true for you too. No matter what trial, challenge or change you are facing... God will not push you past what you can not bear. If you're struggling with something right now, I encourage you to pray about it - God always has a listening ear and He truly cares about you! Lift it before Him and see HIS strength carry you through.
