About Me

My photo
I hope that what I post here and what you read may in some way encourage, challenge, inspire, or simply interest you... The Week 1 - 21 posts are a series dedicated to EXCEL School of Performing Arts Tour 2015. It's impossible to capture the whole experience, but here I choose to share at least one thing I learnt in each week of XLTT15.

Baptism

Today was very special for me!
I got the absolute privilege of baptising my friend, Destini, alongside her big brother Daniel.

I was baptised earlier this year on May 19th and it had to be one of my highlights of 2013. Honestly it's such a defining moment in the walk of any Believer. I want to write a little bit about why...

Here we are lowering Desy into the water. If you know a bit about Jesus Christ, you may know He died for the sins of the world. He died and was lowered down to the grave, buried in a tomb. Our lowering Des into the water represents her both dying with Christ and dying to her human nature, her ways of living for herself.

In this photo we have now brought Destini up out of the water. Even though Jesus died, God's love was stronger even than death and Jesus came back to LIFE. He arose, conquering the sin he died to defeat. Des was lifted up out of the water to symbolise rising with Christ. Rising into a new way of life, lead by the Spirit. A life lived to bring God Glory. A life lived to honour Him and seek first His Kingdom!

And so the deed is done! Hallelujah! Dunking Destini didn't take long. It was an in-and-out kind of ordeal, but as you've read, that moment held such major significance. Here we stand, praying for Destini. We said prayers of thanks and encouragement, and asked the Holy Spirit to take hold of this girl and use her for massive things in God's Name. I believe He has so much in store to come.

Destini's getting baptised was a public statement to the friends and family that stood and watched that she is choosing to follow Jesus. It was an act of obedience to God and confirmed what she'd already decided would be her life. Wow. What a precious moment! This was such a beautiful thing to be a part of and I feel so blessed to know both Destini and to know God and His love and grace for me and anyone who would accept it.
